Vision, Mission & Values

Vision & Mission

My vision is a world without barriers to mental, sexual, and reproductive health – where trusted knowledge, inclusive care, and meaningful support are accessible to everyone, everywhere.

My missions is to empower people to understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and live healthier, more fulfilling lives through evidence-based therapy, trusted information, and innovative education in mental, sexual, and reproductive health.

Interdisciplinary Approach

Mental, sexual, and reproductive health are deeply interconnected, with fascinating interactions between them.

In the 21st century, an interdisciplinary approach – bringing together knowledge and perspectives from multiple scientific fields – is essential to understanding the complexity of our realities, our relationships, and our intimate lives.

Science does not solve every problem, nor does it answer every question. It does, however, provide a rigorous framework and a shared language for asking better questions, examining evidence, and expanding our understanding. Even when we need to think beyond convention, scientific knowledge remains a valuable point of reference. After all, you cannot redefine the rules until you have mastered them.

Diversity & Inclusion

Although this should arguably go without saying in the 21st century, it is important to make it explicit: diversity and inclusion are fundamental to my practice, and they come with two responsibilities.

First, every person deserves to be treated with respect, dignity, and affirmation, regardless of their cultural, social, or economic background; religion; sexual orientation, identity, or behavior; biological sex; gender identity or expression; racial or ethnic origin; disability; or any other aspect of who they are and how they live.

Second, the responsibility for creating an accessible, welcoming, and safe therapeutic environment lies with me. This also means taking responsibility for continuously educating myself about historical and contemporary social power dynamics, and understanding how they shape people’s experiences of mental, sexual, and reproductive health.

Inclusion is not simply about welcoming difference. It is about taking responsibility for the conditions in which people are seen, heard, respected, and supported.

Humility

No matter how diligently we try to guard against ignorance and bias, they can still find ways into our thinking and our work. Every person is unique, and parts of someone’s story may be difficult to fully understand without having lived a similar experience. In this profession, mistakes are inevitable.

For this reason, I choose to maintain a learner’s stance towards every client. Each person is the expert on their own experience, and my role is to listen with curiosity, humility, and an open mind – learning from each story and from the extraordinary diversity of human experience. I continuously expand my professional network, both within the scientific community and across relevant community organizations and services.

And when I recognize that my knowledge, skills, or perspective may not be enough to meet someone’s needs, I take responsibility for seeking consultation or making appropriate referrals – so that every client can receive the support that best serves their well-being and personal growth.
